3. Purpose and Significance of the Competition

The research and development of flight vehicle is a systematic engineering process, which includes and gathers many research fields such as machinery, communication, electron, control and materials. Its application covers various fields of people's livelihood, for instance, industry, agriculture, communication, environmental planning and transportation. They, on one hand, cultivate large quantities of talents for the flight vehicle field; on the other hand, they provide technical support and innovative ideas for the technical development of flight vehicle. At the moment, both in China and abroad, there are over a hundred of colleges and universities going deep into technical research of various flight vehicles.

With the rapid development of flight vehicle technology both in China and abroad, it requires us to improve the quality of innovative talents and education for talents. The key to maintain the sustainable development of future aerospace technology is the talents with strong creative ability, hands-on skill and innovative thinking. Micro flight vehicle is very suitable for colleges and universities to carry out innovation research and technical identification because of its low development cost and relatively simple development process.

The “China Graduate Future Flight Vehicle Innovation Competition” (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”), through the idea of “innovation changes the future” and centering on flight vehicle technology and innovation, aims at improving graduates' innovation capability and engineering practice capability in the field of aerospace so as to cultivate inter-disciplinary and high-quality innovative talents in this field. All organizing parties of the Competition will work hard to make the Competition recognized by graduate cultivation organizations all over the world and by the industry and regarded as a national high-level competition and to the Competition be of great influence among postgraduates, and aerospace related institutes, laboratory and enterprises and in the society. The Competition will gradually be in line with the similar international high-level competitions.
